Start With Understanding the Learner
Choosing an educational environment begins with understanding the individual learner. The Hands On Academy admissions journey starts with a pre-interview assessment or application before formal enrolment paperwork.
How the Admissions Process Works
1. Pre-Interview Assessment
A parent, guardian or prospective learner provides information to help the Academy understand the learner's educational background, strengths, challenges, interests and current needs.
2. Academy Review
Hands On Academy reviews the information before the interview.
3. Interview
The parent or guardian and learner meet with the Academy to discuss educational history, circumstances, goals and available learning pathways.
4. Educational Pathway Discussion
Where appropriate, the Academy can discuss options such as CAPS-related academic support, GED or Skills Development. This stage does not promise acceptance or guarantee a specific placement.
5. Formal Enrolment
If the learner is accepted and the family is instructed to proceed, the formal enrolment process is completed. Formal enrolment is separate from the pre-interview assessment.
Before You Apply
Completing a pre-interview assessment or application does not automatically constitute enrolment or guarantee acceptance. Its purpose is to provide the Academy with information ahead of the interview.
After the Interview
Families who are invited to proceed will receive instructions for completing the formal enrolment process.
Not Sure Where to Start?
If you are considering Hands On Academy but are unsure which educational pathway may be suitable, contact the Academy and discuss the next step.
