For Learners Following a Secondary-School Academic Route

Hands On Academy's Skills Development pathway is intended to provide teenagers in Pietermaritzburg with practical, hands-on preparation for the working world. One confirmed offering is the 6-month Service and Customer Relations Certificate.

Service and Customer Relations Certificate

This 6-month course is designed around the practical application of customer service. Learners gain experience relevant to hospitality front-of-house service, food and beverage service, retail and office environments, supported by practice-orientated theory.

Practical Learning Includes

  • Customer relations and professional customer-service practice
  • Food and beverage service in a controlled restaurant environment
  • Retail development, including creating window dressings for store fronts
  • The principles of marketing and conducting stock takes
  • Professional telephone and email communication
  • Basic computing skills
